Briefly about us
The oldest room of the Old Town Square
The Gallery is located in the oldest room of the Old Town Square, dating back to the 11th century. Visitors can experience the unique atmosphere of a Romanesque room, with its massive masonry and tunnel vaults. The originally ground-level room only became a cellar in the Middle Ages when the entire square was raised by 2,5 metres due to frequent flooding from the nearby Vltava River.
Tradition of Czech handicraft
All artistic items come exclusively from the workshops of Czech artists
and craftsmen. Beside traditional embroidery or bobbin lace, modern trends
in Czech art, such as painting on silk, glass or leather, are broadly
represented.
